RULES AND EXPECTATIONS

1.  Membership
To become a member of the Ukrainian School of Arts, the candidate is required to:
— complete the school's application form,
— pay the initial installment of the fee in the sum of $100, and provide a post-dated cheque for the balance
— be present during the first 2 classes after which the Artistic Director classifies the student into his/her proper group level in which he/she will practice during the new instructional year.

2.  Practice Uniform
Students must attend all of the classes wearing the generally accepted practice uniform:

      • black body suit
      • black skirt
      • beige tights
      • beige dance shoes
 
  • white t-shirt (with school's logo)
  • black pants
  • black socks
  • black dance shoes

Character Dance Boots and Shoes are required.
Students' hair style must be neat; girls must have their hair done in a bun and boys' hair must be cut short.

3.  Expectations pertaining to students
Students have the responsibility to systematically attend all classes according to their schedule. Students must attend classes on time, without late arrivals.
During the class, students must be attentive, disciplined and diligently fulfill all of the tasks assigned by the instructor. In the event when a student cannot attend a class or will arrive late, he/she must inform the instructor or the director.
Students absent for three or more practices may be withdrawn or dismissed from the school by the Artistic Directors. Following two instructional classes, registration deposits and session payments will not be returned.

4.  The School Year
The school year begins in mid-September and concludes with a year-end showcase concert. During the school year, students will have winter and spring breaks as appropriate.

5.  Costumes
The school will supply performance costumes however, all students should have concert dance shoes, embroidered blouse/shirt, "sharavary" pants and "poyas", red beads ("namysto"), wreath ("vinok"), and underskirt ("pidtochka"). The Artistic Director must approve all costume elements. To ensure ultimate costume care a refundable safety deposit will be levied and a signed agreement will be issued for this pupose. In the event of damage, a charge will be levied (at the discretion of the Artistic Director) for costume cleaning, repair or replacement as circumstances warrant. When using the school's costumes, students and their parents are fully responsible for their storage, transportation and safe and timely return. Costumes are to be returned to the school within one week of a concert performance.

6.  General Comments
The Ukrainian School of Arts does not bear any responsibility for illness, traumas, accidents or thefts which occur during artistic tours, concerts, performances or class practices.

The school's students and their parents who desire to help in the process of development and promotion of the school are asked to contact the Artistic Directors directly.

Students and their parents are obligated to follow the rules and expectations established by the Ukrainian School of Arts. In the event of inappropriate behaviour or misconduct, by student or parent, the Artistic Directors of the school reserve the right to dismiss the student from the school.
