The Ukrainian Youth Festival at Verkhovyna is an annual event held every July in Glen Spey, New York drawing thousands of visitors every year.
This year, despite unpredictable down-pours of rain, the Festival was a success and not a "wash-out" as some may have thought. Saturday's performance was held indoors. On Sunday, after much deliberation and concern, the concert was held outdoors. To everyone's delight the rain held off until after the grand finale.
Taras Petrynenko and Tetiana Horobetz brough the crowd to their feet. The "Ukraina" Ensemble from the Ukrainian School of Arts in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the Roma-Pryjma Bohachevsky Dance Camp Workshop group dazzled audiences with their performances. Lidiya and Gabriella Oros, very young and talented girls directly from Ukraine brought tears of joy to the eys of many in the audience. Wasyl Popadiuk, a true virtuoso, once again captivated the audience with his astounding violin program.
